What is new in Yahoo Messenger 9.0 beta?

The new version comes with whole new look and feel and a hell lot of features which make it worth the upgrade. The contact section has been revamped and now it looks cool with large avatar images besides the contact details. The contact view can always be switched back to the classic compact view.

All new Skins and Emoticons

They have incorporated many new skins and emoticons, that will be fun to use. The emoticons list has been extended, though the previous emoticons have been kept intact. The new emoticons have been suggested and created by users themselves through a contest organised by Yahoo earliar this year.

Flickr Images

You can easily import and save photos from/to your flickr account. Image management was never so easy in Yahoo Messenger. The user interface looks impressive too. Flickr integration makes sharing and saving of pictures easy, conveniet and loveable.

Inline Youtube Videos

So, the next time you paste a youtube link in an IM window, the link will be parsed to an inline video, provided you switch to the beta 9 version before you log into yahoo messenger again.

Enhanced Voice Call features

You can have your incoming Phone In or free PC calls forwarded to another number like your mobile, home or office phone, even if you’re signed out of Messenger. When someone leaves you a voicemail in Messenger, an email is sent to you with an MP3 of the voice message attached, it is a similar feature that Gtalk is providing from many days.

Its Official, our own orkut.com has been chosen the MTV youth icon for the year 2007. This is very good news for all orkut lovers, it’s been our collective effort that this popular social networking site has come to this stage. We must thank Google for providing such a wonderful tool.

Orkut has changed our life in some way or the other. We remain in touch with our old friends with the help of orkut. I was amazed to see its nomination in MTV youth icon award, after a bit of thinking i realized that it’s the true youth icon. Having tough contenders like Rang De Basanti, Abhishek Bachchan and Multimedia celphones, orkut came out of the crowd and got the crown.

Google has been critisized in the past for orkut’s ugly looks. I must say it was the ugliest of all the social networking sites. But the much awaited new orkut’s new look is on the way. Still, not all the profiles are seeing this new design, only a small percentage of members are able to see it as of now. But day by day they are allowing more and more orkut members to feel the new design. I won’t call it a redesign, they have just updated and upgraded the old design.

Those rounded corners give a cool web 2.0 look, and streamlined and glassy interface looks good. It’s still not the best but okay something is better than nothing. One more feature was expected from google which is add different colored backgrounds to the orkut, or may be in the form of various cool looking orkut themes. So, that members can change their theme whenever they want. Let’s see may be google come out with this feature in few months.

Yahoo has released a security update for yahoo messenger 8.1 version for windows. You may recieve a prompt to install this latest security update. When you are prompted to do so, click on update now button to install it

Yahoo! recently identified a security issue, commonly referred to as a buffer overflow in an ActiveX control. This control is part of the Yahoo! Messenger audio conferencing code.

You must upgrade to newer version if

1. You installed your yahoo messenger before 13th march, 2007
2. You are experiencing some problems in logging in or logging out of the messenger
3. You get involuntarily logged out of the yahoo chat or IM session.

Yahoo messenger is offering free calls to india during the holi festivals. The service is being offered to all the Yahoo Phone-out subscribers. Holi is an annual traditional festival of india, it is also known as “The Festival of Colors”.

Google has just added a new feature inside Orkut which allows users to share their favourite Youtube and Google videos with their orkut friends.

To simply add a video to your playlist, simply click on “videos” link on the left hand side in your profile and then find the video you want to insert and paste it into the open field.

Unfortunately you can not add any other video provider outside of Google Video or YouTube as you get a “Please enter a valid Google Video or YouTube url” error.

it has a great interface (even the default theme looks good) and has an integrated spell check. though it does not support all the extensions from 1.5.0.7, they will be updated soon. The tabbing has been enhanced a bit. Mozilla firefox 2 is fast, more secured. I have experienced that it is consuming a little more RAM than its old versions. Aneways, it is okay to have great internet experience at the expense of a bit more resources.
